Shower Steamers

Some of us prefer baths or lack a tub and these shower steamers fit the bill for a shower diffusing experience! They are super similar to bath bombs except we omit the almond oil and epsom salts. We don't want anyone slipping in the shower!

Materials

  • 2 cups baking soda

  • 1 cup citric acid

  • 1 cup arrowroot powder

  • 3-5 tbsp water

  • Essential oils of choice

  • Clear ornaments, silicone molds, or muffin tin

  • In a large bowl, add baking soda, arrowroot powder and citric acid. Mix well

  • Add water and essential oils in a separate small bowl and mix well.

  • Very slowly combine the wet mixture to dry ingredients, and begin to mix immediately. You may notice some fizzing - just keep stirring. It's important to stir it in very slowly so that you don't activate all of the baking soda and citric acid.

  • Test the moldability of the mix. You should be able to clump it together. It shouldn't be too wet or too dry. If it's too dry, add 1 tsp of water as needed.

  • Scoop mixture with both ends to form a ball with clear holiday ornaments or fill each silicone mold or muffin tin.

  • Remove mold. The mixture should hold its form. You can let it air dry more to keep it's shape for several days. Package and gift or use.

To Use: Take into the shower with you, wet it under the stream of water to get it going. Place the steamer at the far end of the bath/shower stall so that it will last longer rather than disappear too quickly under the steady stream.
